Szechuan tragedy
Today I read about the orphans from Szechuan earthquake settling at a factory or school in Shandong Province. Listening to a 10y.o. young boy describing his parents who died in the tragedy, tears rolled down my cheek. He didn't have the chance to take anything with him, even a picture of his parents. He claimed that he still remember clearly how handsome his dad was but was afraid that one day he might forget their faces.
Then, I start to wonder...if given a second chance, would he choose to have his parents back and continue to live in poverty? Or does he prefer current reasonably decent life with lots of other orphans from the same background?
Hmm... I think I would rather not to be in this situation if there was a choice. We should all feel lucky that we were not being put into those difficult situations or tragedies and should appreciate people around us more. We should also give a hand to these children in need and help them live their lives. Maybe I would visit them in China one day...
